Elgin Mrs. Ruth Lorine Merritt Deese, 90, died Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Kershaw Memorial Hospital.A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home with Rev. James Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home. Born October 4, 1926, Mrs. Deese was a daughter of the late Roy David Merritt and Ethel McMurray Merritt and the widow of William C. Deese.She was formerly employed at J. P. Stevens and a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lancaster, SC. Mrs. Deese is survived by one son, Richard McCormick of Great Falls, SC; one daughter, Vivian Morgan of Elgin, SC; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
