Great Falls Mrs. Sandra Kirkpatrick Howe, 77, died Friday, February 21, 2014, at her home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Mt. Dearborn United Methodist Church with Rev. David Ussery officiating.Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Born in Chester County, SC on August 21, 1936, Mrs. Howe was a daughter of the late Haskell McGill Kirkpatrick and Sudie Mae Kirkpatrick.Mrs. Howe graduated from Great Falls High School in 1954 and Winthrop College in 1958.She was a teacher for more than twenty years at Papillion-LaVista High School in Papillion, Nebraska.She loved to teach and always strived to make a difference in the lives of her students.Mrs. Howe was a member of Mt. Dearborn United Methodist Church in Great Falls and Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church in Papillion, Nebraska. Sandra’s greatest joy was family.She devoted herself to her husband and children and in later years to the care of her parents.She delighted in being “Mei-Mei” to her grandchildren and cherished the time spent together with them.Mrs. Howe was always positive and her kindness towards all was exceeded only by her knack of seeing good in all. Mrs. Howe is survived by her husband, James O.Howe, Jr.; two sons, Jamey Howe and wife Alison of Great Falls and David Howe and wife Sarah of Camisano, Italy; four grandchildren, Hayley, Elizabeth, Michael, and Hunter Howe; one brother, Haskell Kirkpatrick, Jr. and wife Gwen of Dallas, Texas; and one sister, Barbara Muller and husband Herbert of Dallas, Texas. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the nurses and staff of Medi Home Hospice who helped make her final days peaceful.
