Fort Lawn Mr. Sidney Emanuel Christopher, Jr., 81, died Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Fort Lawn United Methodist Church in Fort Lawn with Rev. Karen Richmond officiating.Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the church. Mr. Christopher was born October 24, 1935 in Fort Lawn and was a son of the late Sidney E. Christopher, Sr. and Lillie Belle Broome Christopher.He was a graduate of Fort Lawn High School and York Tech and a veteran of the U.S. Army.He was a farmer and formerly worked with Daniels Construction.Mr. Christopher was a former member of the Fort Lawn Fire Department.He was a member of Fort Lawn United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Harding (Eddie) of Fort Lawn and Loretta McAbee of Clarks Hill, SC; one nephew, Brian Harding of Heath Springs; a niece, Denise Harding of Rock Hill; and a dear friend, Robert Rodgers.Mr. Christopher was preceded in death by his best friend, Roy Carter.
