Simeon Austin Broome

Great Falls Mr. Simeon Austin Broome, 80, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, SC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Chase Catledge and Rev. Dr. Marty Roberts officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday October 15, 2021 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home. Mr. Broome was born October 27, 1940 in Great Falls, SC and was a son of the late Wade Abraham Broome and Mamie Catherine Dawkins Broome. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and was a Veteran of the US Army. He was employed with Duke Energy as a Hydro Electric operator for over 30 years and after his retirement he was associated with Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home as a Funeral Assistant for over 22 years. Austin was an avid Great Falls Red Devil Fan, Carolina Gamecock Fan and he loved The New York Yankees. He is survived by his wife Jakie Broome; two daughters, Laura Broome of Great Falls, SC and Amanda Deal (Richard) of Winston Salam, NC; one son, Michael Broome (Cici) of York, SC; two step-daughters Michelle Varnadore (Shane) of Camden, SC and Julie Baker of Great Falls, SC; two brothers, Leonard Broome of Ft. Mill, SC and Thomas Broome of Great Falls, SC; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Elliott Zeke Broome. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905
