Great Falls Mr. Simeon Austin Dawkins, 93, died Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Springs Memorial Hospital.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 24, 2012, at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Greg Batchelor officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM on Monday, December 24, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mr. Dawkins was born November 11, 1919 in Calhoun, Georgia and was a son of the late Manning Dawkins and Ida Johnson Dawkins.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was retired from J.P. Stevens as a supervisor.Mr. Dawkins also owned and operated C&D convenience store and was a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Marsha D. Brooks and husband Ralph of Great Falls; three grandchildren, Hal Brooks of Great Falls, Todd Brooks of Blythewood, and Cathy Wright of Great Falls; two great-grandchildren, Angelina Brooks and Austin Hinson; one special nephew, Austin Broome of Great Falls; and his caregiver, Bill Black of Great Falls.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Knight Dawkins and a son, Larry Dawkins.
