Lexington Dr. Terry Dewayne Sims APRN-BC, 52, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. J.D. Wilson and Rev. Dr. Marty Roberts officiating and speaking will be Dr. Sam Stone and Britt Lineberger.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, December 31 at Terry’s office. Sims Family Medicine, 503 Chester Ave, Great Falls, SCand also Saturday, January 1, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Terry was born December 11, 1969 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late Jesse Sims and Phyllis Trotter Sims. He was a 1988 graduate of Great Falls High School where he was Class Valedictorian and also attended York Tech, Midlands EMS Management Greenville Tech, Winthrop University, Excelsior College and University of South Carolina. He received several awards during his time with the Great Falls Rescue Squad where he served as Captain until 2014 which included Volunteer of the year for numerous years and Chester Medic for the year 1996.He played a huge part in acquiring equipment and vehicles for Great Falls Rescue Squad during his time with them.Terry was a Family Nurse Practitioner in Great Falls for many years where he treated the community like family. He is survived by one son J.D. Sims and his daughter Anna Sims of Lexington, SC; two sisters, Tammy Dry and her husband Mike of Fort Lawn, SC and Toni Dutton and her husband Kevin of Blackstock, SC; Online condolences may be made to the family at www.dantzlerbakerfuneralhome.com
