Thomas “Tucker” Jackson, affectionately known as “Paw Paw” to his cherished granddaughters, Kristen and Lauren, entered into eternal rest peacefully at his home in Mitford, S.C., Monday, June 22, 2021 with his son Al and dear family friend, John “Rabbit” Coleman by his side. He was 93, 4 days short of his 94th birthday. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Catoe officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bethesda UMC. Tucker was born June 25, 1927 in FairfieldCounty and was a son of the late Henry Grafton Jackson Sr. and Lila McKeown Jackson.Tucker married Louise Yongue and they built a life together for over 50 years having one son, Thomas Allen “Al'' Jackson. Tucker was a 1944 graduate of Great Falls High School and a 1949 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in textiles. He worked for J.P. Stevens for several years before his teaching and Administration career began in Lancaster S.C. Tucker served passionately as the Superintendent of Vocational Education for many years. He served the Lancaster area community helping young students build houses, teaching the importance of honesty and hard work, and seeing that people were given a chance to work in many vocational careers. Tucker was awarded many local, state, and national accolades for his service and leadership during his tenure. He was a magistrate in Fairfield County for almost 20 years. He was a faithful member of Bethesda United Methodist church in Great Falls, serving in many capacities. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Tucker loved his Santa Gertrudis cows. He and Al worked side by side to build their dream farm life in Mitford. He loved watching his granddaughters grow, and was able to meet his great granddaughter, Gray. He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to many, and a good father and grandfather who always took care of his children and did his best to guide and teach them. He shared his wisdom with many friends and offered advice to anyone that asked. He loved pulling for the Clemson Tigers! He had a very faithful companion, ”Frank” , his beloved Boston Terrier. His caretakers, John “Rabbit” Coleman and Dora Lee Caldwell (deceased) were very special to Tucker and they are loved and appreciated by the Jackson family. Rabbit continues to be a cherished angel to the Jacksons. Tuckeris preceded in death by his wife, Louise Y. Jackson, and three brothers, Richard, Henry and Ephraim Jackson. He is survived by his only son Al, two granddaughters, Kristen Jackson of Atlanta, GA and Lauren Carmichael (Brian), great granddaughter, Gray Carmichael, all of Denver, CO,a loving sister, Lila Jean Bailey of Great Falls and many nieces and nephews.
