Great Falls Mr. Thomas Reid “Skeets” Powers, Jr., 68, died Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Lexington Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Great Falls with Rev. Daniel Nuckolls officiating.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, January 9, 2017, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mr. Powers was born March 2, 1948 in Lancaster, SC and was a son of Gertrude Baker West and the late Thomas Reid Powers, Sr.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and York Tech and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Vietnam.He retired from Bowater as an E&I Mastercraft.“Skeets” was an avid Gamecock fan and a member of the Gamecock Club. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Diane Wright Powers; one son, Thomas R. “Tommy” Powers, III of Great Falls; one daughter, Stacey Powers Martin (Lee) of Great Falls; four grandchildren, Seth Powers of Great Falls, Morgan Powers of Hilton Head, Allie Martin and Hannah Morgan of Great Falls; two great grandchildren, Kenslee Powers of Hilton Head and Tanner Roberts of Chester; two sisters, Kay Granger (Gary) and Carol McManus (Stanley) both of Great Falls; one brother, Billy Powers of Great Falls; and special friends, Wayne and Barbara Looper.
