Vernon Franklin Roberts

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. – 2 Timothy 4:7

On February 2, 2026, Vernon Franklin Roberts of Great Falls, South Carolina, completed the work set before him and entered the joy of the Lord. Born on March 29, 1946, he was the son of the late Vernon Clyde and Annie L. Roberts, a loving and devoted husband to the late Sandy Clark Roberts for 56 years, a US Marine and Vietnam War veteran, a Bowater retiree, and a staff member of Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Vernon is survived by his two sons, Scott Roberts (Kashana) of Lancaster, SC and Brian Roberts (Christy) of Clover, SC; six grandchildren who adored him, Austin (Christianna), Jeremy (Jenna), Taylor, Caleb, and Brooke Roberts, McKenzie Dean; one cherished great-grandson Carter Lee Roberts; a special daughter, Nancy Parsons of Great Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vernon lived a life marked by unwavering faith, compassion, and service. He faithfully served the Lord at Mitford Baptist Church. Throughout his years as a believer, he was always eager to share the hope he found in Jesus Christ through teaching Sunday School, serving as a deacon, praying with the students at Upward Grace Academy, and helping in any capacity there was a need. Vernon’s greatest joy in life was his family, and he invested well in each of their lives. He led by example, taught with mercy and humor, served selflessly with grace, and loved endlessly and unconditionally. His humble strength has left his family with an eternal legacy.

The family would like to extend heart-felt gratitude to the staff of White Oak Manor of Columbia for their loving and compassionate care of Vernon over the past 12 months.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Mitford Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Roberts and Rev. Greg Batchelor officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.
