Great Falls Mrs. Virginia Crompton Gilreath, 81, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Great Falls Presbyterian Church with Dr. Steve Mays officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mrs. Gilreath was born February 4, 1932 in Rock Hill, SC and was a daughter of the late J.B. Crompton and Sallie Huffstetler Crompton.She was a graduate of Great Falls High School, retired from Springs Industries, and was of the Baptist faith.Mrs. Gilreath was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 211 and was Worthy Grand Matron of South Carolina for 1992 and 1993 and Grand Secretary of South Carolina from 1999 to 2009 and holds the honor of Grand Secretary Emeritus. She is survived by two sons, Mack “Tripper” Gilreath and wife Melinda of Simpsonville and Brian D. Gilreath and wife Susan of Blythewood; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Gilreath Johnson of Greenville, James “Jim” Gilreath of Greenville, and Matthew J. Gilreath of Simpsonville; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Crompton of Greenville; and her fiance’, Tom Swindler of Charleston.She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack D. Gilreath, Jr.; an infant son, Randall Eugene Gilreath; a brother, Johnny Ray Crompton; and a sister, Evelyn Campbell.
