Vivian Ann Hood Jacobs

October 3, 1932 — December 1, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Vivian Ann Hood Jacobs of Great Falls, SC on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the age of 90. Visitation will be held in the Social Hall of Mt Dearborn UMC in Great Falls, SC on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 12:30pm and at other times at Ann’s home at 4747 Great Falls Hwy, Great Falls. The funeral service will begin at 2pm at Mt Dearborn UMC with interment to immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls. Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home of Great Falls is in charge of the services. Born October 3, 1932 in Fort Mill, SC to Oscar Banks Hood and Martha Annie Jane Lowder Hood, she was the middle of three children. She graduated from Fort Mill High School in 1950, and Kings Business College in Charlotte, NC in 1951. One of her proudest accomplishments was that she made it through ALL thirteen years of her education with perfect attendance. She was employed by JP Stevens in the Cloth Store and was Secretary to the Superintendent of Great Falls schools. She was also Supervisor of the Supply Room at #1 Mill, served as a substitute teacher, was Great Falls Youth Center Director, and taught clogging. Ann was a member of Mt Dearborn United Methodist Church of Great Falls, where she was a member of the choir and served as the Church Secretary. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron. There was no form of art that Ann did not learn to master. She put her seamstress abilities to work, making clothes for the children in the family, and numerous costumes for clogging competitions. She was an avid painter, hanging many pieces with pride throughout her home. As an accomplished pianist and organist, she would constantly fill her home and our hearts with music. She also loved to cook, a skill she learned from her own mother, and was always happy to open her home to feed anyone who entered. Her most favorite artistic passion, however, was dancing. She met the future love of her life, Rex, at a square dance, and the two spent many years two-stepping together. Ann’s favorite dance was clogging, of which she was a World Champion. She founded ABC Cloggers with her granddaughter, Caroline, where she taught hundreds of children and adults from across the region. Even though she wasn’t born a Red Devil, Ann supported all the Great Falls sports teams, spending many years in the stands cheering on her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her special friend, Kelton Talford. She was also a lifelong Clemson Tiger fan, spending many years watching football in what she and Rex referred to as “God’s Country.” Ann will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Pamela Jacobs Nunnery and Cynthia Jacobs Tucker (Michael) of Great Falls, and a niece that she raised, Sandra Hood, of Lancaster. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Michael Nunnery (Katherine) of Irmo, Caroline Nunnery Flynn (Shaun), Ericka Tucker, and Haley Tucker Caldwell (Terrence), all of Great Falls. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren Genesis, Mackenzie, Bralyn, Garrison, Greer, Arlington, and Brooklyn, along with generations of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Annie Hood, older sister Mildred Hood Medlin, younger brother William Hood, and her loving husband of 53 years, Rex Lee Jacobs. The family would also like to thank Tony Medlin and the staff of Pine Grove Assisted Living in Greenville, SC for their extraordinary care and compassion in these last few months. Memorials can be made to Mt. Dearborn UMC, PO Box 246, Great Falls, SC 29055, Grasp of Great Falls, PO Box 424, Great Falls, SC 29055 and Greenlawn Cemetery Association, PO Box 191, Great Falls, SC 29055.
