Richburg, SC: William Carson McClain, 79, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, SC. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 24, 2014 with Reverend Brian Hovis and Reverend Kelvin Hinson officiating. The family will receive friendsSunday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Interment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. McClain was born in Great Falls, SCon March 1, 1935 and was a son of the late Rochelle David McClain and Ida Blankenship McClain. He was a graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, NC,attended Junior College in Laurinburg, NC and Furman College in Greenville, SC on a basketball scholarship. He was retired as an Insurance salesman from United Insurance Company of America , enjoyed playing basketball tennis andwas a member of the Blue Buckle Tennis Club in Rock Hill, SC. He is survived by his wife of over fifty-six years Martha Morrow McClain; one son, William David McClain (Karen) of Heath Springs, SC; one daughter, Elizabeth McClain Lee (Alfred) of Catawba, SC; four grandchildren, Jennifer Jones of Lancaster, SC, ConnorMcClain and Ethan McClain both of Heath Springs, SC and Heather Stokes of Charleston, SC;two great grand-children, Makayla Jones of Lancaster, SC and Caitlynn Stokes of Charleston, SC. Mr. McClain was preceded in death by a daughter Ann Leigh McClain. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Great Falls, 606 Dearborn Street, Great Falls, SC 29055.
