Willie was born December 18, 1945, in Great Falls, SC, and was the son of the late Willie Sibley Hinson, Jr. and Cynthia Ann Hinson. He attended the schools of Great Falls and worked at Duke Energy as a welder on the hydroelectric dams; he retired after 45 years. He was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #277. Willie’s life was rich with the moments that matter most – time spent with family, friends, and countless hours in the barn with his chickens. He always put the needs of his loved ones before his own. Many will remember him as a pillar of strength, a man whose guidance and love profoundly shaped their lives. His family was his true pride and joy, taking on many roles: Husband, “Daddy”, and “Pawpaw”. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be cherished by all who were touched by his life. Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he imparted and the love he shared will remain in our hearts forever
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Rita Broome Hinson; his beloved daughter Kim Hinson Bailey (Chris) of Fort Lawn; two granddaughters, Katelyn and Sydney Bailey; two nephews, Eugene Trotter (Randy) of Smyrna and Keith Trotter (Roxie) of Rock Hill; one niece, Amanda Dominy (Donnie) of Hartsville; two special friends Jamie Burchett and Kenny McMurray. Willie was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Hinson Dominy.
