Aiken: Wyman Young of Aiken,(mailing address 2653Edgefield Highway, Trenton, S.C., died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Springs Memorial Hospital, Lancaster, S.C.Private Memorial Serviceswill take place on Saturday, September 24,at 11:00a.m. at Lebanon United Methodist Church, Calvary Church Road, Neeses, S. C. Mr. Young was born April 18, 1939, the son of Grover B. Young and Leila Jackson Young Snipes, in North, S. C. He grew up in Orangeburg and Aiken Counties.He was an accomplished electrical engineer, handling projects all over the United States and on several islands.“Papa Wyman”, as he was known to his family, was a generous and helpful person to many people over the years. He was a member of Montmorenci Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Joseph Young, two sisters, Louise Young Walker and Carolyn Young Scott; also a grandson, George Ed Catoe.Surviving family members include a special daughter, Della Kay Young-Siry, her husband, Todd, and their two sons, Zeth Robert and Cole Evan Siry; and a daughter, Patricia Young Farmer and her husband, George of Chesterfield, S.C., and their daughter, Rochelle Lee Catoe of Camden, S.C. Also surviving are three sisters, Emily Snipes Jameson and Mary Lou Hoffman of Bolentown and Betty Bates Gray and her husband, Harry Gray, of Cope, S.C. He also leaves two very special friends, Brenda Young, his devoted caregiver, and Donnie Whisenhunt; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
