James Avery Looper

GREAT FALLS:Mr. James Avery Looper of Oak Street died Friday May 8, 2009 at Rock Hill Healthcare in Rock Hill, SC.He was 90. Funeral services will be 3:00 Sunday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Batchelor officiating.Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Looper was born March 19, 1919 in Pickens County, SC, a son of the late Lawrence A. and Kate Foster Looper.He attended the schools of Greenville County and was retired from J.P. Stevens Company.During WWII, Mr. Looper served his country in the U.S. Navy.He was a member of First Baptist Church of Great Falls. Mr. Looper was the widower of Margaret Hegler Looper. Surviving are his sons, Jimmy Looper of Pelzer, SC and Mitchell Looper of Rock Hill, SC; daughters, Patricia “Pat” Fowler of Rock Hill and Shelvie Ramsey of Rock Hill; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Geneva Gregg of Great Falls and Lavonia Frost of Rock Hill; and a brother, Bill Few of Liberty Hill. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 Sunday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Avenue, Great Falls.
