Mr. Vernon Wayne Pettit

Edgemoor Mr. Vernon Wayne Pettit, 75, died Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Elmwood Cemetery in Fort Lawn with Rev. Stephen Woody officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service. Mr. Pettit was born February 17, 1947 in Great Falls, SC and was a son of the late Herbert Pearson Pettit, Sr. and Gladys Varnadore Pettit. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and a loyal employee of Ross Distribution Center. Mr. Pettit was a member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary Michael Pettit; one son, Kenneth Pettit, Sr. of Fort Lawn; one daughter, Crystal Pettit of Rock Hill; two stepsons, Anthony Schlauch of Lancaster and Jeffery Schlauch of Fort Lawn; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Melton of Edgemoor; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Mr. Pettit was preceded in death by a stepson, Alvin Schlauch; a brother, Herbert “Butch” Pettit, Jr. and his wife, Linda; and three nephews, Russell, Brian and Greg Pettit.
